| 8. Are players able to attend just the On-Ice Program if they already have a separate off-ice program? |
| That
depends. In our youth programs, all players must attend the
off-ice portion of the skating program. The Off-Ice Program we have
developed is very specific and reinforces directly what we are teaching
on the ice. For example, if players work on their arm swing during their
ice time, then, in the off-ice session, drills will be used which reinforce
and ingrain those changes in the players arm swing. When the players
sprint with tires to develop leg power they will be positioning their
feet in the same manner they were taught that day for explosive starts
on the ice.
Junior and professional players will have their own team training programs or their personal trainers program for the summer and we try to work with them. Generally, however, each player will still be required to attend the Off-Ice Program in order to maximize their skating improvement over the duration of the camp. |
