6. Would Goaltenders benefit from attending     the school?
Yes. Although we don’t teach goaltenders how to play their position, good skating technique continues to be of increasing importance to them as their mobility in the game increases. The body position incorporating a low knee bend and pulling the shoulders back, which we work on both on and off the ice, is extremely important for goaltenders. The Off-Ice Program in which we work on leg power and quickness as well as balance and solid trunk control, all have direct application to goaltenders.

When we get into areas of skating that don’t apply to goaltenders such as tight turns, we incorporate shooting in these drills so that the goaltenders are challenged to respond to rapid shooting while players are moving at top speed.
