| 10. Is your program able to change poor skating technique in older players? |
| Yes. There
is no question that hockey players, even in their 20's and 30's, can
change their skating technique. However, the permanency of the change
and the extent to which those changes are applied in game situations
depends to a large degree on the players focus and commitment
to change. It is a matter of discipline as well as hard work because
the player is trying to alter neuromuscular patterns he or she has developed
over a long period of time.
When it comes to altering old skating technique, the research in the field of motor learning supports the fact that repetition of the desired patterns of movement is the fastest way to embed those changes in our neuromuscular system. |
